The CVD Process: How It's Done

SEED PREPARATION
A thin slice of diamond, known as a seed, is placed in a CVD reactor

GAS MIXTURE INTRODUCTION
A carbon-rich gas (typically methane) and hydrogen are introduced into the chamber

IONIZATION
The gases are ionized into plasma using microwave or other methods

DIAMOND GROWTH
Carbon atoms separate from the gas and deposit onto the seed, layer by layer, forming a diamond

COOLING AND HARVESTING
The diamond is allowed to cool and is then harvested for cutting and polishing
